Yes. All dogs five (5) months of age or older must be licensed.

1) The primary reason is to prevent the spreading of rabies. Rabies is a health
threat and is 100% fatal for humans if not treated properly. Animal licensing
helps the County monitor compliance with state rabies vaccination laws.
2) A license is a lost dog's ticket home! When your dog has its license
attached to its collar, its assigned license number is all that is necessary
for the County to identify the dog's owner. 3) The fees from licensing
are used to care for animals and investigate complaints about stray animals,
among other services.

Dog licenses must be renewed annually. Licenses are valid from January 1 thru December 31.

The system is PCI DSS
compliant and uses industry-standard technology for the secure handling
of user and credit card information. All passwords and credit card
numbers are encrypted. Hard drives are encrypted. All web interactions occurs
using SSL (https). Firewalls guard against intrusion. Any unnecessary server
applications are turned off. Periodic scans by a third-party of the online
system are done to detect vulnerabilities and maintain PCI DSS compliance.

No. Credit card information is not available to the County. If for any reason
your credit card cannot be processed, you will be notified via email or telephone and
asked to log in to your account to verify credit card information and to make
any necessary corrections. Credit card orders for dog licenses are never
accepted over the telephone.

Licenses ordered online are sent through postal mail and should arrive within ten (10) business days.
